SUEP THE RAIN
One of South London's most loved outfits, SUEP make a welcome return with "secret agent groove" 'The Rain'. Out now via Memorials of Distinction, SUEP's first new music in 2 years is an expectedly playful take on 80s punk. Existing in a similar space to Martha and the Muffins' iconic 'Echo Beach', a gritty yet melodic bass groove drives the tasty, two-minute morsel. Fleshed out by percussive guitar work and analogue synth sounds, the subject matter is slightly more serious as vocalist Georgie Stott relays: “(it's about) an inability to face a past self, the rain being a force that protects me from the pain of previous experiences, a pure cleansing thing that soothes me when having flashbacks from more tumultuous times in my life.” Kickstarting a comeback of sorts, you can catch SUEP (and presumably 'The Rain') at the Gob Nation All-Dayer at the Dome on the 25th of October or at their own headline show at the Windmill in Brixton on December the 11th. -Holly Mullineaux
